We have received information about one confirmed case of COVID-19 in a student or staff member at Coshocton Elementary School. We continue to work closely with the City Health Department and anyone identified as a close contact will be notified by the health department as a part of a COVID-19 investigation. Coshocton Elementary School will remain open at this time. A letter has been posted on our school website under the COVID-19 Information tab directly below the banner at the top of the page. Also, just a gentle reminder that there is no school on Monday, February 15th for all students due to Presidents’ Day, and all students will be on a remote learning day next Friday, February 19th so that we can complete our staff vaccinations. We will continue to monitor all health situations and communicate additional information if possible. Thank you for your attention to this notification, have a Happy Valentine’s Day and enjoy the long holiday weekend!

Hello, this is Dave Hire, Superintendent of the Coshocton City Schools, with several important announcements for all parents and staff. First, tomorrow, Wednesday, February 10th, is a scheduled two-hour early dismissal for all students for Staff Professional Development meetings. Students will be released two hours earlier than their normal times. Tomorrow’s weather may change these plans and we will communicate any changes. If we are on a 2 hour delay in the morning, we will not have the early dismissal. Second, as a reminder, there is no school for all students (both face-to-face and remote students) next Monday, February 15th in observance of Presidents’ Day. Third, and this is a new change, all students will be on a Remote Learning Day on Friday, February 19th, to allow for staff COVID-19 Vaccinations that day. In order to complete all of these vaccinations, we will also need to have a remote learning day for the second dose later in March. Again, at this time, staff will be receiving vaccinations on Friday, February 19th throughout the day, and all students will be on a remote learning day. As always, please check our website for additional information or contact your building if you have any questions. Thank you for your attention to this notification and have a good evening!

The 2020 Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities Dedication Award was granted to Coshocton Elementary’s very own Deb Gossett (lovingly known as “Gigi” to her students)! Mrs. Gossett has put her heart and soul into helping students for over 33 years. She began her career at Central Elementary, later transferring to Southlawn Elementary and has been with us at CES working in a Multicategorical Unit since the school opened. Mrs. Gossett has worked with students in all grade levels and numerous categories, positively impacting hundreds of children. Her coworkers describe her as a committed, caring, giving and humble person. Each year The Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities offers a Dedication Award. This award recognizes a person, direct care staff, or group of people who are extraordinary in giving their time (paid or unpaid) to help others who have a developmental disability. They are selfless leaders and are always working towards promoting independence and making positive changes. The recipient(s) of this award showcases a passion for making advances in an individual's lives.
