Welcome to the start of the 2018-19 school year! All of us at Coshocton High School hope you and your loved ones had an enjoyable summer and everyone is anxious to get the school year started! CHS has received many updates in the form of renovations, technology, and improvements to building safety and security. Thank you to the newly formed parent organization, P.A.S.S. (Parents Association for Safer Schools), for their support and partnership with our school. They are raising funds to help us add new security cameras to CHS this fall. We are excited about these projects and community involvement! Safety is #1 at CHS and we will continue to make it our top priority for your child. With that said, we want to introduce to you four new staff members to the Coshocton High School team! We feel they will be fine additions to our faculty and will definitely help our students become college and career ready. Please welcome the following new staff to CHS, along with other position changes within the district:
Kylie Covic NEW Para-professional/1-1 aide
Heather Kistler NEW JH Science teacher
John Miller NEW Art teacher
Katelyn White NEW HS Intervention Specialist
Adam Clark HS Social Studies teacher
Carrie Clark HS Intervention Specialist
Shannon Folkert Music/Choir teacher
Randi Schilling HS Biology teacher
Barb Snyder HS Chemistry teacher
Wendy Turner JH Science teacher
As you know, each year we have added 1 to 1 devices for our students. This year marks the first year that all students in grades 7 through 12 will have their own tablet for school! We highly encourage you to help us get these in the hands of students sooner by completing the user agreement for these devices. These are great resources to have for our learners! Also this year, all four content areas will have on-line textbooks and materials. Let us know if you have any questions.
The planetarium is open for the start of the school year as well. Students from CES and CHS will benefit from this resource for many years to come. A planetarium curriculum committee has been working hard over the summer preparing programs for all ages! Our students and community are very lucky to have this in our building. Thanks again to former CHS teacher, Ron Derewecki, for his leadership in making this a reality. Thank you to the many supporters in our community and beyond for your assistance!
Lastly, our school email addresses have changed effective August 1 of this year. To contact any CHS staff member by email, you will need to type the firstname.lastname@coshoctoncityschools.com. For example, to contact me via email, please use grant.fauver@coshoctoncityschools.com. Each student will have his/her own email address written this way as well.
Again, we hope you are excited about the upcoming school year! Please follow CHS on Twitter www.coshoctonredskins.com and to download our Coshocton HS app on your smartphone for additional updates and information.
As always, please give us a call if you have any questions! Have a great school year!
Grant W. Fauver
CHS Principal
